How to Configure MJDownloader and Obtain Token & Client ID

This guide will walk you through the steps to configure the MJDownloader Bot. You'll learn how to create a new bot on Discord's developer portal and obtain the necessary Token and Client ID.

Step 1: Log in to Discord

  1. Open your web browser and go to Discord's website .
  2. Log in to your Discord account. If you don't have an account, you'll need to create one.

Step 2: Access the Developer Portal

  1. Once logged in, navigate to the Discord Developer Portal .
  2. Click on the "New Application" button on the top-right corner.

Step 3: Create a New Application

  1. A dialog box will appear asking for the name of your new application (ie. MJDownloader). Enter a name and click "Create".

Step 4: Obtain Client ID

  1. On the left, click OAuth2. Here, you'll find your Client ID. Copy this ID for later use.

Step 5: Obtain Bot Token

  1. In the left sidebar, click on "Bot".

  2. Click "Copy" to copy your bot Token. Keep this token secure and do not share it with anyone

  • You should now have both your Client ID and Bot Token.

    • Step 6: Bot Settings

    1. Uncheck "Public Bot".

    2. Bot Intents. Set the intents for the bot as follows:

    Step to Input Token and Client ID in the Application

    1. Run the MJDownloader installer.
    2. You'll find a field to enter your Discord Bot Token. Paste your client id and Discord Bot Token in the appropriate fields

    4. Run the MJDownloader Application.
    5. Click on the 'Invite Bot' button within the application to add the bot to your selected Discord server via drop down on the browser window that opens.

    6. Click "Select Channels" and choose channel(s) for the bot to monitor.
    7. Choose save location with "Select" button under "Output Directory".
    8. Use "Start Bot" to initiate the bot to monitor and run.

    And there you have it! You've successfully created a Discord bot and invited it to your discord server. You can now proceed to use these in MJDownloader to enjoy its features.

    Remember to keep your Bot Token secure and never share it with anyone. If you believe it has been compromised, you can regenerate it in the Bot section of the Discord Developer Portal.
